RAW JACKFRUIT CHIPS (HALASINAKAI CHIPS in Kannada)

Jackfruit chips are perfect tea time snack. It's popular in the coastal regions of Karnataka and Kerala. These are crispy, crunchy, and tasty and you would munch on them anytime. It is best accompanied with evening tea/coffee or as a time pass snack.

Ingredients:

· Raw Jackfruit

· Salt

· Water

· Oil / Coconut oil for frying

Method:

· Raw and fully grown jackfruit should be used in making chips. The jackpods which are thin, comes out crispy. Don't use thick & spongy jackpods for preparing chips.

· Jackfruit has lots of gum so while cutting the jackfruit, you need to use oil on our hands and on the instrument that is used for cutting.

· Deseed each jackpod/ bulb and cut it in long uniform shape.

· Take little water in a small bowl, add salt in it. Let the salt dissolve completely.

· Take a kadai with oil in it. Once the oil heats up, start frying the jackfruit slices on low to -medium flame.

· Once it is 75-80 percent done, add the salt water in oil.

· Fry till it turns golden brown in colour.

· Drain it on the tissue paper. Once completely cooled store it in an air tight container.

· Enjoy these delicious chips with tea or coffee.
