Masala Pav is one of the most popular & ultimate spicy Mumbai Street food after Pav Bhaji. Soft melt in mouth Pav slathered in a spicy tangy tomato-onion capsicum masala & aromatic pav bhaji masala. Topped with fresh lime juice and chopped coriander leaves.
Ingredients:
For making the Masala:
· Oil – 1 tbsp
· Butter – 1 tbsp
· Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
· Onions - 2 medium size (chopped)
· Red chili paste -1 tbsp
· Garlic paste – 1 ½ tbsp
· Capsicum - 2 medium size (chopped)
· Tomato – 2 big size (chopped)
· Salt to taste
· Pav bhaji masala - 1 tbsp
· Garam masala – ¼ tsp
· Lemon juice - 1 tsp
· A pinch of sugar
· Fresh coriander leaves
For making the Masala Pav:
· Pav – 6-7
· Butter
· Pav bhaji masala
· Prepared Masala
· Finely chopped onions
· Finely chopped coriander leaves
· Lemon
Method:
For making the Masala:
· Set a pan on medium heat, add oil and butter, add cumin seeds and sauté for a minute.
· Add onions and cook until translucent, add red chilli paste (soak red chili powder in water for 15-20 mins) and garlic paste, mix and cook until the oil is released.
· Add capsicum, tomatoes and salt, sauté it well.
· Now add pav bhaji masala, mix and cook well for 4-5 minutes until the tomatoes are mushy.
· Add garam masala, pinch of sugar, lemon juice and finally add the fresh coriander leaves. Give a good mix.
· Masala for making the masala pav is ready. you can remove in a bowl.
For making the Masala Pav:
· First slice the pav in two halves keeping the end intact.
· Set a tawa and add butter, sprinkle little pav bhaji masala and fresh coriander leaves.
· Now place the pav, keep it open and add sufficient quantity of prepared masala and finely chopped onions.
· Overlap the pav and top it with more masala. Cook for sometime and remove it from the tawa.
· Serve it hot with a dash of lemon and garnish it with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
