MASALA APPE

Masala Appe is very famous south Indian Recipe which is made using rice and a variety of lentils. Also known as Paniyaram. Healthy and amazing breakfast to start the day.

Ingredients: For Batter: · Idli/Dosa rice - 2 cups · Udid Dal – 1 cup · Moong dal (Yellow) – 1 cup · Bengal gram Dal (Chana dal) – 2 tbsp · Methi seeds 1 tsp · Salt Vegetables for adding it to the batter (Chopped) · Green chillies – 3-4 · Ginger – 1 inch · Curry Leaves · Coriander Leaves · Coconut small chunks – ½ cup Oil/ Ghee for making Masala Appe Method: • Wash and soak rice, udid dal, moong dal, chana dal and fenugreek seeds together for 6 -7 hours. • Late evening grind the above ingredients till it turns into a semi-fine paste. Do not add too much of water. Let this mixture ferment overnight. Keep the batter little thick. • Morning add salt to the fermented batter, give a good mix. • Chop the vegetables and add it to the batter. Give it a good mix. • Make masala appe in appe pan using ghee or oil. • First grease the appe pan with oil/ ghee and pour spoonful of batter in the appe pan. Keep the flame on medium. Cover it with a lid while cooking it. • Now slowly flip the appe and again drizzle oil/ ghee from the sides. • Flip it again and remove it from the appe pan once it is done. • And serve this hot appe with coconut chutney of your choice.
