MAKAI CORNFLAKES CHIVDA (For Ganapati Bappa)

Sweets ke saath kuch namekeen toh banta hai, so it's Makai Chivda in the frame. Ganesh Festival aspecial. Cornflakes chivda or makai chivda is a deep-fried savory mixture which is sweet, spicy, and slightly tangy in taste. It is made with dried yellow-colored cornflakes also known as makai poha or corn poha. It can be prepared as festive snacks or as a munching snack for the evening.



Ingredients: · Corn flakes - 250gms · Groundnut -100gms · Daliya (Roasted chana dal) - 100g · Dried coconut - ½ cup (sliced) · Mustard seeds – ¾ tbsp · Fennel seeds (Saunf)– ½ tbsp · Asafoetida (Hing) - ½ tsp · Curry leaves a handful · Powdered sugar · Oil for frying For Masala powder: · Red chilli powder – 1.5 tbsp · Haldi - ½ tsp · Salt - ¾ tsp · Chat masala – ½ tsp · Amchur powder - ½ tsp · Black salt – ¼ tsp · Mix it well.

Method: · Take a big utensil, add 2 tbsp oil. · Once the oil heats up add mustard seeds, saunf, hing, curry leaves, groundnut let it splutter. After that add dried sliced coconut, once it starts turning brown add daliya. Fry this for sometime and turn off the flame. · Once it cools down a little add masala powder and sugar powder, give it a good mix. · Heat oil in a deep pan. Once the oil heats up, start adding a handful of cornflakes. · Do it two or three times and now add these deep-fried cornflakes to the fried mixture. · Add little masala powder and sugar. Give it a good mix. · Again, continue frying the cornflakes and follow the same step. · Mix it gently, once it cools down. Store it in an air tight container.
