Saundela fish curry my native Karwar style preparation accompanied with Kolhapuri style fish fry (Black pomfret) and rice . My favourite soul food.
Ingredients:
For the marination paste:
• Dry Coconut (grated) - 1 cup
• Ginger (chopped) – 1.5 inch
• Garlic - 10-12 Cloves
• Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
• Red Chilli Powder - 2 tbsp
• Coriander Leaves - 1 cup
• Kolhapuri Garam Masala - 2 tbsp
• Kokum juice – 2-3 tbsp
• Salt (as per taste)
• 6-8 Black Pomfret (sliced) or any fish of your choice
• Oil for frying
Method:
• Grind all the above ingredients into a fine paste.
• Marinate the fish with little salt for about 15-20 mins.
• Now apply the masala paste to the fish.
• Take a shallow pan add little oil and keep the slices in the pan.
• Now keep the flame on low and cover the pan with a lid.
• Do not flip the fish, cook for about 15 mins or till it is cooked properly.
• Serve it hot with rice or any Indian bread of your choice.
